INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGION

South West Germany is the ideal destination for a getaway. Its countryside, lakes, small wooded mountains... Its meadows, green valleys, vineyards and orchards... Walk or cycle along the paths, breathe the fresh air, recharge your batteries.

And each region has its own charm. In the north, the Odenwald is full of hills and streams. In the Rhine-Neckar plain, the flat terrain of the Palatinate is ideal for walking and cycling. The Black Forest is home to charming villages and a beautiful national park. Lake Constance is a paradise for water sports.

The concept of hiking was born in the Black Forest in 1900 with the Westweg, the world's first hiking trail. Walk along impressive gorges, past waterfalls and ancient castles. Take easy day hikes or challenge yourself to longer hikes.

The historical background of Villa Hammerschmiede is linked to the history of foundries in Söllingen. In the 18th century, Margrave Karl-Friedrich wanted to "promote the prosperity and industrialisation of his country" by founding a foundry on the border of the districts of Söllingen and Kleinsteinbach.
