Hautes-Alpes

INFORMATION ABOUT THE REGION

The Hautes-Alpes department is located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Famous for its ski resorts of Montgenèvre or Orcières, the department offers many other snow activities such as sledging, snowshoeing... Moreover, particular attention is paid to the environment in this department. The resort of Les Orres has set up an energy self-sufficiency project to reduce greenhouse gases.

In summer, discover the Ecrins National Park, the largest and most popular park in France, and don't hesitate to go for some wonderful hikes! There is also the Durance river which flows into the Rhône and the Serre-Ponçon dam.

Take advantage of your stay in the Hautes-Alpes for some cultural visits.

The climate of the Hautes-Alpes department is influenced on the one hand by the high altitudes which cause significant temperature differences between day and night, and on the other hand, by the extraordinary sunshine due to its proximity to the Mediterranean.

During your stay, try some of the region's leading specialities such as the tourtons of Champsaur, the donkey ears of Valgaudemar or the trout of Châteauroux. Enjoy your meal!
